Centralized Management System for Dell Servers
Good Day,
I have installed Dell Open Manage Essentials in my Data Centre and would like to manage all my clients Dell Servers from the OME Console. Is this possible as this will allow management of dell servers a lot easier.
I have OME 2.1 installed.
Thanks
Tobias

Hi Tobias,
Thanks for your post.
And of course, you can easily manage and monitor your data center using the OME console with some easy configuration steps. For which there are whitepapers(i.e. How to perform Discover/Inventory, Alert Configuration, Update Dell Server using OME..etc) available at below link which will help you to setup your devices in your data center to be managed by OME.

Hope this helps and keep us posted how it goes!
Thanks

Ranveer,
I can connect and manage the servers in my data centre with Open Manager Essentials. My question was I would like to monitor all my other clients Dell Servers with the Software over the internet. Can I connect to remote hosts over the internet to manage the servers.
Thanks

Hi,
So, let me clarify;
1. You have mentioned that you need to monitor your devices over internet. If that so, then you would need a VPN connection to access OME, and your devices should be pingable from OME. So, If the ping is successful between "OME and devices" it will work with ease via VPN connection over internet.
2. Also since you mentioned client Dell Server, did you mean you want to monitor Clients(laptops/workstation) or Dell PowerEdge Servers? And if it is client's then you would need OMCI for health monitoring.
Keep us posted!
Thanks
