Cannot submit "User Requested" Discoveries and Inventories in OME

Hello

On two of my OpenManage Essential servers I cannot submit "User Requested" Discoveries and Inventories.

When I try to submit a manual discovery and inventory request, nothing happens for several minutes, then I receive the error “Unsuccessful in initiating discovery and inventory. Please look at the user interface logs for more details.

When I check the UI Logs, I see a “Critical” error with the Source of “DiscoveryContextMenu” and a Description of:

“Dell.ManagementEssentials.Exceptions.ItaDataAccessorException: Message ID "DiscoverAndInventoryDiscoveryRange" too long to be processed by the DA Service. ---> System.TimeoutException: Unable to confirm that the memory message was sent before the timeout expired.”

The existing Scheduled Discovery and Inventory jobs appear to work fine.

Here are the details of my servers.

VMWare Virtual Platform
OME Version: 2.0.1.2222
Memory: 8GB
SQL Express
Managed Servers: 150

Thanks

Hi there Craig,

Is this a new install or upgrade?  Has been discovery been working in the past for you?

Has anything changed recently on your OME server? (passwords, IIS settings, group policies, etc.)

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob

This is a new install and the user submitted discoveries have been working in the past.  Nothing that I know of has changed.

Perhaps something happened with one of the OME services.  Best if you can stop and restart them.  Then give discovery another try.

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks for the update Craig.  If it continues to pop up as a problem, we'll likely ask you open a ticket so the support guys can see if there are any crash dump (.dmp) files on your system that might help with root cause.

Best,

Rob

Thanks Rob

I have restarted the servers several times and I assumed this would restart the services.  However, in taking your advice, I manually restarted all the OME services and I can now submit manual discoveries.  I will monitor if the issues return after a period of time and update this post.
