Can C6220 nodes be added to OME via out of band (CMC)?

Hi, i tried adding C6220 CMC nodes with WS MAN protocol and it does not seem to work. How do i add these to OME in an out of band manner? I noticed we cannot ssh (or telnet) to the CMC ips. only https

Many thanks,

Naseem

Hi Naseem,

I believe you are talking about PowerEdge C servers. The support for this server is only with IPMI protocol. When you discover using IPMI, they will classify as PowerEdge C servers in device tree. Hope this solves your query.

Hi Naseem,

If you navigate to settings page and change the discovery settings from guided to standard wizard, you should be able to see IPMI protocol when you try to perform a new discovery. The guided wizard is just to help users figure out what should be the supported protocols enabled for mostly discovered devices. Hope this solves the query.

Hi Naseem,

For older PowerEdgeC servers, there is no support for system update or health state. The C servers were not possible to be discovered using any other protocol. With the 13th generation of servers, you will be able to use other protocols for discovering a PowerEdge C server just like any other server. They will get classified as Servers and you will be able to perform system update as well.

Unfortunately for your current server in question, we cannot do system update neither can we show the health state. We have a limitation.

Hi Pupil, I do not have IPMI as a choice discovery protocol? I only see WSMAN, SNMP, SMI, SSH and MD ARRAY.

Thanks,

Naseem

Indeed it does Pupul, thanks. One last thing, although they are now recognized as Poweredge C servers, their status is unkown and they do not appear in the system update section. I would like to be able to update their firmwares via dell OME is this possible?
