Upgrade vCenter to ver 8 vs OMEnt
Hi,
currently we are using OpenManage Enterprise version 4.3.2. We are planning to upgrade our vCenter to version 8. Does OpenManage require new deployment after vCenter upgrade or it will work without any issues?
thanks

Hello,
Dell recommends upgrading to OME 4.4.1, which resolves known upgrade issues from 4.3.2 and ensures better compatibility with newer VMware environments.
Be sure to get a valid snapshot before doing any update.
Since you are on OME 4.3.2
Upgrade OME to version 4.4.1 before or after your vCenter upgrade to ensure full compatibility and avoid integration issues.
Customers on previous versions OME 4.3.2 or OME 4.2 will see OME 4.4.1 as an upgrade option.

Thanks, that’s genuinely helpful. We're also currently running OME 4.3.2 and initially planned to delay the upgrade. But based on Dell’s recommendations, it looks like updating to 4.4.1 before upgrading vCenter to version 8 is the safer move — especially to avoid any potential compatibility or integration issues. If this update helps steer clear of future headaches, then it’s probably not something to postpone. We're planning to take a snapshot of the OME VM and test the upgrade in a staging environment first. Really appreciate having this kind of documentation and input — makes the whole transition much easier to manage. If anyone here has already gone through this process, I’d love to hear about any lessons learned or gotchas to watch out for.
