Need assistance in migrating DELL OME from 3.10.0 (Build 169) to 4.1.0 (Build 237)

Hi Dell Team,

We are currently migrating our DELL OME from version 3.10.0 (Build 169) to 4.1.0 (Build 237), but we've encountered a blockage at the certificate stage on both appliances and are unable to proceed with transferring the data from the old OME to the new one.

Can some one help us if we are missing anything in the process.

Hello,

Have you tried to Migrate to 4.0 then you can Migrate that to 4.1

This video guide may help.

OpenManage Enterprise: 3.10.x to 4.0 Migration

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000219280/openmanage-enterprise-3-10-x-to-4-0-migration

It is 3.10 to 4.0 so note that the 4.1 has some requirements if you want to go that way:

Note: Certificates signed with SHA-1 are not supported; use SHA-256 or higher.

Migration Aspect

OME 4.0

OME 4.1

In-place vs. New Appliance

Requires new appliance (SLES)

Also requires a new appliance

Cert Chain Validation

Must upload CA-signed certs

Same CA cert requirements apply

TLS Version

TLS 1.2+ is expected

TLSv2+ is mandated

Plugins

Must uninstall before migration

Resync improved, fewer plugin-related issues

Do you have replaced the SSL cert in your OME against a non-dell one? IIRC the migration only allow default certs.  To try to revert and than start the migration again.

Hint: If you have a small environment consider to perform a fresh install rather than a migration.

@Origin3k Hi Thank you for your response, to answer your question, As our old 3.10 OME is CA signed, because of which i have to update my new OME with our internal CA signed certificate while migrate in the data, still i see the same issue, but will try to get it to default cert and give a try.

Thanks in advance for your great support and suggestions..!

IIRC you have to revert back to default CERTs,  perform that migration, add your self signed Cert.

But iam sure thats in the documentation.

Joerg
