Hello, thanks for choosing Dell. This may help.

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-au/000135299/idrac7-idrac8-red007-error-when-applying-latest-idrac-firmware-from-out-of-band-interface?lwp=rt

Try a Different Update Method:

If applying the update through the out-of-band interface fails, try updating through Dell's Lifecycle Controller, if available.

Let us know if this helps.

I get this error with the https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=hfkcx HGST GP46 firmware package.

I have tried through Dell Open Manage Enterprise v3 and v4, and I have tried directly through the iDRAC web UI, yet all have the same issue.

I cannot try running from the host OS, as it is CentOS7 and no longer supported by Dell. Trying to run the linux update results in complaints that libc and libstd++ are both too old, yet the system packages are all fully updated.

If I try through Lifecycle Controller, after creating an ISO from the update, mounting it and copying the filename, it states:
The Update Package is not supported for this system. (SUP0527)

Recommended Action:
Download the latest supported Update Package from your service provider and retry the operation.

The iso only has the Serial-ATA_Firmware_HFKCX_WN64_GP46_A00.EXE file and nothing else. Is there another way to provide this update to the Lifecycle Controller?

If I remake the iso for the linux bin (Serial-ATA_Firmware_HFKCX_LN64_GP46_A00.BIN) instead, the response is:
File extension  not supported or the Update Package is invalid. (SWC0053)

Recommended Action:

Use a valid Windows-based Update Package with an .exe extension.

Hello, reukiodo_uw ! We'd like to have your service tag of the system and the part number for the HDD you are using. Would you be able to provide for us to help you?

@DELL-Young E

(R530, fully updated according to OME except this HDD firmware)

Drives show as "Aries-HC8 3.5" 8TB 7.2K SATA 512e 6gbps" in OME and does not show up in iDRAC as there is no PERC in this system.

In the OS, there are:

7x "HGST HUH728080ALE604" FwRev=A4DEGP45

1x "ST8000NM0205-2FF112" FwRev=PB53

Hello, @reukiodo_uw
"I have tried directly through the iDRAC web UI, yet all have the same issue." - It means no issues with OME or iDRAC.

In the OS, there are:
7x "HGST HUH728080ALE604" FwRev=A4DEGP45
1x "ST8000NM0205-2FF112" FwRev=PB53

PB53 is the latest.

A4DEGP45 N-1

We also checked your tag- it seem with original drives and possibly 1 replaced under warranty previously.

So I would recommend using DRM and crate bootable ISO with A4DEGP46 firmware alone.

From Google, I was able to find https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000177083/support-for-dell-emc-repository-manager-drm which had the actual download for DRM, but still couldn't figure out how to make an iso with a single update, so I just used the full R530 iso and booting from that was successful in updating the drive firmware.
