Has anyone replaced OME with Zabbix?
Having concluded that OME 4.x is beyond hope, I have decided to look at alternatives. Zabbix comes up frequently as an option. Has anyone tried it? Does it integrate ok with Dell servers and other hardware? I would appreciate any insight anyone might have.

Hi,
My apologies that you find OME is not up to your expectation and usability. I cannot give a good feedback or reply if Zabbix is an alternative. I don't have any knowledge of it. Yes, you can use this community to gather more information. Have you also posted in Zabbix's forum community for some insights? Here: https://www.zabbix.com/forum/

We use OME for "patching" rather than Monitoring. For the later we use NAGIOS/CheckMK or similar. I cant see how OME will ever replace a monitoring like Zabbix, PRTG....
Even as a Dell only shop i can tell that OME is limited. I just say "PowerStore", "N2000" Series..... So for your question OME isnt the answer!
Regards,
Joerg

@Origin3k We use PRTG and am not looking to replace it with OME. We just use OME for patching (firmware and drivers, not OS obviously), and alerting. It's ok for firmware status but it doesn't seem capable of monitoring driver versions unless you install SSH, which I'm not going to do.
I'm also not going to use the iSM because it interferes with networking. The DBAs will complain something won't load, I'll fix it by tweaking the iSM, but then it reverts to its former configuration after an update. So forget that.
I find alerting is bad, with poor, non-customizable messages. With OME 2.x I get terse messages like:
Device:someserver 172.17.10.33, Service Tag:, Asset Tag:, Date:8/21/2025, Time:17:45:51, Severity:Critical, Message:System is down: someserver
OME 4.x message:

I don't want all that garbage. I know it's from OpenManage and I couldn't care less that Dell's rights are reserved or what year it happened, not to mention all the equal signs and spaces. Most times I read this stuff on a phone.
