Hello,

Have you tried clearing browser cache and restart services in the text user interface?

I'm assuming there is not snapshot.

Had the back up been tested to be valid?

You may try the question mark at the top right corner of OME and type in: synchronization

Will bring up: Restore an appliance and give you some steps to try.

Same thing happened to me when upgrading from 4.3.2 to 4.4.0. I restored a VM snapshot back to 4.3.2 and tried the upgrade again. The second attempt worked.

Same problem here: upgrading from 4.3.2 to 4.4.0.75, the browser says "installing the packages" since 2 hours.

Cleared the browser cache, changed browser, same message.

From the CLI it says some services are active, some are inactive, some are activating.

I am about to restore the snapshot from the last night.

I came here to look for release notes for the new versions.

Looks like it happens more often now that the appliance needs to be restored after a failed update. I had the same experience when updating to 4.2. Will try to got to 4.3 and 4.4 soon. Somehow it looks like I cannot skip 4.3.

So, @DELL-Charles R please talk to your developers to better test your release updates!

Hello There,

Same problem here: upgrading from Version 4.3.2 (Build 49) to 4.4.0.75, the browser says "installing the packages" for 1.5 day.

Cleared the browser cache, changed browser, restart VM, same message.

I had to restore my VM this morning to recover my OME supervision.

Hello,

I've submitted an incident to the Systems Management engineer.

If anyone of you have the availability to contact support directly and engineer could get a look with you.

I'll follow up when I have more information.

Got the same problem with two appliances in the different environments, both of them stuck in "Installing packages" screen, I checked on one of them and when you perform VM's restart, vKVM shows some problems with Docker instances during startup. Only restoring a snapshot/from backup gives you back working appliance.
As I can see I'm not the only one, so it looks like serious global issue.
@DELL-Charles R @Dell-Martin S do you as company have an official statement about this issue (workaround, need to wait for next version)?

Hello,

There appear to be a growing number of users experiencing this.

Systems Management has asked if anyone could contact Support directly to help understand this issue.

Contact Support, use a service tag in warranty that you may be managing on OME and you should be able to get to the Systems Management team.

Same problem here: Attempted upgrade from version 4.3.2 (Build 49) to 4.4.0.75 on two different systems, both stuck/failed. On one, the browser displays "Packages installed. System will undergo multiple restarts to complete the upgrade process. Please clear the browser cache before next login." On a second instance browser displays "Loading... Services are starting up". Appliance services toggling between activating, active, and inactive.

Cleared the browser cache, changed browser, restart VM, same message.

A backup of the appliance was taken using the built-in Backup/Restore option... how can I restore the backup that was taken prior to the upgrade if the appliance is hung in the updating state?

@Matt4istal You need to recreate the VM with same version then you can try to restore, although i did the same but failed to restore. If you have snapshot then it's better to restore from their.
