Dell OME Virtual Console out... again

Well, had a good run of about a month before the virtual console feature stopped working again. Attempting to launch a virtual console is now met with an "Alert Unable to connect the viewer. Close the window and try again". No changes were made in OME or the network so I'm out of ideas as to what could be the cause. Not sure where to look in the logs.

I'll add that launching a virtual console from OME DOES generate a Redfish session on the iDRAC of the server

Hello,

What is the server(s) model you are working with?

Does it affect all servers?

You may have tried these steps but if not try them in order and check results.

If you have tried them could you provide the results you had?

1.Does it occur in all browsers?
Clear browser cache and retry virtual console and/or try a different browser. Make sure you don't have any pop up blocker on.

Check results

2.drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, iDRAC cable, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed).

After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in.

Then plug in NICs, iDRAC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.

If you cannot do a shutdown for the flea power drain then reboot the DRAC and then try virtual console.

Check results

Have you tried using the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)

  • If you're accessing OME via its hostname or IP, switch to using the FQDN (e.g., ome01.yourdomain.local) in your browser.
  • This resolves issues with viewer redirection and certificate validation.

If this is a reoccurring issue; would you be able to call in to support and have an engineer work with you on the issue?

This is for a Dell R6625. The issue was with all browsers and tested with both LDAP accounts and the local admin one. What's strange is that the issue seems to have remediated itself. KVM consoles are now launching and the only change that was done was remove and re-adding the directory accounts. I'll keep an eye on it for a while longer, but as of now everything is working as it should again.
