15 DC15255, DA305, laptop battery drains

I have a Dell 15 DC15255 laptop and purchased the Dell DA305 6 - in 1 multiport Adapter to be able to plug in two external hard drives and ethernet cable. When connected, if I leave the laptop on over night, the laptop seems to be drained, and won't power back on. I have to unplug the multiport adapter, unplug the power and let the battery completely drain before I can get the computer to start back up again. Anyone else experience this issue? The external drives are WD My Passport 1TB drives that are connected via USB through the multiport adapter.

Are you powering the dock with the same 65W power adapter that came with the system?  If so, that may be an issue as the dock and drives may be causing more than a 65W draw on the adapter, resulting in the battery being used.

Yes.  It plugs into the USB-C port on the laptop and I assume then draws the power from the 65W adapter that comes with the laptop.   This device does not allow for an external power source.  The real question is when the machine is plugged into the power source with the multi-port adapter plugged into the USB-C port, why would the system think the battery is dead, when it is not, but you cannot use the machine until you completely drain the battery and then plug it back in to power to restart after about 6 hours.
