15 DC15250, traditional Fn keys make it impossible to control audio mute

My Dell laptop came with Fn keys set for gaming. Who knows why. I reset them to traditional layout by using Fn lock feature (with Escape key). So far so good. But now I find no way to mute/unmute the audio (Fn1, Fn2) without diving into the menu. I tried using the same Fn lock feature to revert to the gaming setup but this resulted in a mathematical formula box being displayed in documents. How can I get the use the Fn keys to work for audio again, and be able to toggle back and forth (if necessary) to still use the traditional functions (F2 for rename, etc.)?

@DELL-Jesse L I followed your suggestion and the chatbot "fixed" the problem, telling me that audio was disabled.  As in muted.  The problem is not solved since if i mute the audio (f1) it will not turn back on no matter what I do.  for some reason the autobot is able to turn it back on, but I'm not.  the only action i can do is turn it off, but can't turn it back on with any fkey or via settings, so the problem persists.  i don't want to leave audio on all the time, for various reasons.

CANCEL THAT for now anyway.  Random pushing of esc and fn, and fn and f1, allowed me to toggle audio on/off as desired.  So unless i do more random pushing, I should be OK.

Thank you for your help.
