14 Plus DB14250, Unable to Connect to WiFi-7 - Intel BE201 WiFi card

To provide some context:

I purchased an MR7400 router in January, but it would not connect to the 5GHz or 6GHz bands on my Intel BE201 WiFi card laptop. I assumed the unit was defective and had the seller send a replacement.

With the replacement device, I experienced the exact same issue. To rule out my computer as the cause, Dell replaced the Intel BE201 card in my laptop in case it was faulty. However, the issue still persists.

For reference, I have:

  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 17 Pro
  • Samsung Galaxy S25

All three phones connect to WiFi-7 on the MR7400 without any issues.

Additionally, when I use the Samsung Galaxy S25 as a hotspot:

  • If the hotspot is set to 5GHz (WiFi-6), my laptop can see and connect to it.
  • If I change the hotspot to 6GHz (WiFi-7), the Intel WiFi card does not detect the network at all.

It appears the  Intel BE201 WiFi card cannot detect or connect to 6GHz (WiFi-7) networks

So far I have
1. Reinstalled Windows 11
2. Have the WiFi card replaced
3. Removed the WiFi Drivers and installed directly from Dell.

Could this be a compatibility issue with the Intel card? Or are there any setting that I should tweaker?

Thanks

Hi

A good internet search reveals.......

The Intel BE201 WiFi 7 card in your 14 Plus (Dell Latitude 14 Plus DB14250) failing to connect to the Netgear MR7400 hotspot is a known compatibility issue, often stuck at "connecting" on 5GHz/6GHz bands while older WiFi 6 devices work fine.

Basic Troubleshooting

Power cycle both devices: shut down the laptop and router/hotspot, unplug for 1-2 minutes, restart router first, then laptop. Run these Windows commands as admin: ipconfig /flushdnsipconfig /releaseipconfig /renewnetsh winsock resetnetsh int ip reset, then restart.

Driver Fixes

Uninstall the BE201 driver in Device Manager (delete software files), download the latest OEM version (e.g., 23.140+ from Dell support for DB14250), install as admin, and cold reboot: unplug power/battery, hold power button 15 seconds, reconnect and boot.

WiFi Settings Tweaks

On the laptop (Device Manager > Intel BE201 > Advanced): set Wireless Mode to 802.11ax (WiFi 6), disable 320MHz/6GHz if listed. On MR7400 admin page (192.168.1.1), switch security to WPA2/WPA3 mixed or WPA2 only, limit to 5GHz/160MHz.

Router-Specific Workarounds

The MR7400 often mishandles WiFi 7 handshakes—test 2.4GHz (slower but connects), or disable 6GHz on hotspot. If persists, use Ethernet adapter temporarily or downgrade to WiFi 6 card as interim.
