Dell Encryption 8.17.1.4 Windows 10 1709 Failing

So I have upgraded all my users to the most current supported version of the Dell Data Encryption 8.17.1.4. This version supports the upgrading of Windows 10 1607 or 1703 to 1709 without having to uninstall the DDPE or run the WSProbe program. But no matter what I do I cannot get the upgrade to work. I will clean up the Software Distribution folder, clean temp files, ran it through Windows Update, ran using an ISO, nothing works. I even added the exclusions to the Common Folders and SDE as well that are on the Best Practices (which I had to find because it was not told to us that have it).

So I am at a loss on how to get this to update. I dont want to have to remove this every time to upgrade. I have over 100 of these to do and some are remote which makes it even harder to do.

So does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work as intended!?! I am really getting frustrated and my boss is considering not renewing our license as well.

Any help I can get would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Sincerely,

Donna

Following this... I am in the exact same boat.

They do outline the upgrade process on the one article (which I am sure you have read).  From what I understand, you do still have to run WSPROBE even if you are using the updated client if you want to upgrade from Windows Update (or WSUS).  But how can we automate this step?

They do offer an upgrade path that involves injecting drivers into the Win10 WIM, then pushing the WIM via an OS Upgrade SCCM Task Sequence.  I am going to test that this afternoon.

It would be great is there was a better step by step administrators guide on how to better automate Win 10 upgrades. Considering we get two a year or so, this is a recurring problem.

I've got several hundred clients to upgrade to 1709, so an automated solution is really the only option.

See I was told when we upgraded our VE server and clients back in Jan that the new 17.1.1 gave us the ability to not have to run the WSPROBE -Z anymore. This would allow clients to upgrade without the IT/Security or an admin to have to be involved, especially for remote  computers. Hence the reason you have to add all the folders as exceptions. This process using the WSPROBE is no different than before then. I am waiting on getting some info about putting in a support ticket with the DDPE team about this. If I get any new info I will update.
