loss history after renaming a host node

Hello,

Our system team migrated an host where I have a dpa collector and my TSM servers installed.

And the name of the host changed from AIXhost1 to AIXhost2.

To be consistent, I rename the node in DPA too but all the data collected before is no more available for the creation of reports

I suppose a key in the DPA DB with the name of the host and actually, if I rename it back to his old name the info are available again...

I know that I can play with the "aliases" to keep the old name to the host node and get the info from the new but I think that it is not clean and this also causes problems with some reports.

Do you have an idea about how to update the Info in the DPA DB to match them with the renamed host ?

Thank You

Vincenzo

Hi Vincenzo,

The method you used of adding an alias with the old name would be the correct procedure to be able to report on old data. I am not aware of this causing any issues for the reporting of data. The only other item you may need to take care of is the entry for the old collector under File, System Settings, Processes, Collector in the DPA GUI. You will need to right click on the old collector name and select Remove. You can then restart the collector process and the collector will re-register itself with the DPA Server with its new name.

Kind Regards

David
