How to add ARCserve to DPA?

Hello,

I have DPA server in our own company's network. Now I have DPA Collector installed on remote server, which has ARCserve installed. Ports 3916, 4001 and 25011 are opened between these two locations. But I can't make our DPA server to communicate to that remote collector. What am I doing wrong? Admin quide states at page 38:

11. Click Next and the Remote System Information Permissions panel appears.

The Remote System Information Permissions panel only appears if the following
conditions are met:
• The operating system is Windows.
• A Collector is not installed on the computer.
• System information is to be monitored.
12. In the User Name field, type the user name for an account that exists on the host.
In the Password field, type the password for the user name. In the Confirm
Password field, type the password again.
13. Click Next. The Recoverability Analysis Permissions panel appears
Only problem is that after step 10 Data Collection Wizard steps right to step 15, Item Location Panel. When and where I should put needed credentials? Why doesn't DPA server connect directly to remote collector? Do I need separate proxy or what?

Hi Teemu,

In addition port 3741 needs to be open on the Collector host and the DPA Server needs to be able to talk to the Collector host on this port. This is documented on page 7 of the DPA 5.7 Pre-Installation Checklist.

Kind Regards

Hello,

Now port 3741 is also opened but no luck so far. Because these two servers are in different networks, I added this Collector-machine to DPA Server machines hosts-list, if DPA needs it to be resolved. Case continues...

Hi Teemu,

Are you able to resolve the collector name (using the name of the node you added in the DPA GUI) from the DPA Server and vice versa?

Are you able to send me a copy of the collector log?

Kind Regards

David

We have only two servers, DPA-server (runs all services, incl.collector, gui, reporter etc.) and now this remote ARCserve-server, where Collector has been installed. But answer to your question, no, I cannot resolve ARCserver-machines name from dns, it's added to hosts-file.

From which machine collector do you want log to be sent?

Hi Teemu,

It would be the collector log from the ArcServe machine.

Kind Regards

Hello,

Update to case: After opening last needed port, I restarted all services and now data is fetched from ARCserve. So it seems that everything is ok now.

Thanks David for your help!
