DPA Licenses

Question

Does anybody know a way to find out how many DPA licenses are spare against the number of actual licenses bought? i.e.  Number of purchased backup licenses - backup clients = spare

The report run from the Status category should give you a column named "Monitored Count" and "Monitored Capacity" which will show you how much is 'Used' - the "Licensed Count" and "Licensed Capacity" is how much is bought and licensed (which the second set of reports will show you) - so although there isn't an explicit field named "Available/Unused" you can work it out by subtracting Monitored Count from Licensed Count, etc.

I just checked in DPA 5.8 and found a report bug which is easily fixed - there is an extra condition that made the Licensed Count values all Zero :(

This bug was introduced in DPA 5.8 only - I checked a DPA 5.7.1 system and this condition isn't there.

Irrespective, I've fixed that and for your convenience, I have just added a "Subtract Fields" into each report item to produce a field named "Available/Unused" for you.

You should still be able to use my 'updated' report in an older version of DPA. The report xml is attached with a sample screenshot from our lab.

In case you don't already know, extract the .xml file from the zip, then from your DPA GUI :-

File -> Import

drop down "filetype" to .xml

navigate to where you extracted the .xml file

select it and it will import into your DPA Server

then just add to a Menu and run it ;) or Open it from the Report Editor and Test it :)

If this doesn't work for you , then let me know the version of DPA you are running and I'll update that version.

Try this :-

In the DPA GUI, in the Configuration View, right-click on 'Configuration' view -> DPA -> Status -> License Details

that should give you what you need.

To see the actual licenses themselves, go to Tools -> License Manager

or

right-click on 'Configuration' view -> Licensing -> License Details

Thanks for that, but That just shows number of licenses that has been bought. I want to know how many of the bought ones are active & how many I have left.

Thanks for that.  That's just whatt I'm looking for.  I'm running version 5.5.0 (looking to update it soon) & it populates the Monitored count, but the Licensed count is showing 0.  Could you check that it works on that version please?
