Any way to capture Networker savegrp client connection failures?
Trying to find a way to generate a report where clients that fail to initiate any savesets from a scheduled group backup will show on the client failure report.
Specifically clients with network issues or agents offline that fail to run their probe and initiate savesets don't show on the default failed client report.
The exposure report doesn't quite cut it because of the noise it generates with clients that are setup as placeholders or have been retired from active backups still showing on the report.
We have a lot of clients so trying to find a way to avoid hard-coding checks or exclusions if possible.

Hello,
Currently DPA is not able to gather these failures however there is an enhancement request which is currently planned for inclusion in DPA 6.0 (due for release at the end of 2011) to be able to gather these failures.
Kind Regards
David

Our temporary solution is to use the "Backup not run in past 24 hours" report to at least warn us. Since we have a lot of on-demand clients and we leave retired servers for a few months took this a step further and created a report that only runs against clients that have at least a single savegroup defined in their client entry.
Not ideal since you don't know why something failed, but at least draws attention to it via a consolidated report.
