Weird error in DDVE

Hi, trying ton install DDVE in Hyper-v and got a lot of error. I cannot add storage because of that.

First info, I did follow the recommended CPU and RAM for the storage I got (8Tb).

Here is the error I got :

sysadmin@WBKDVEG02# system vresource show current

CPU sockets: 1
Cores per socket: 2
Memory: 8 GiB
Network Performance:
Instance type:
**** This configuration is not supported. Check the resource requirements for supported configurations.

The second error I got occur by mail with some log inside :

Jan 21 10:03:08 WBKDVEG02 ddr_procmon: WARNING: MSG-PMON-00011: Restarting /ddr/bin/dd_vrr_vdisk.
Jan 21 10:08:58 WBKDVEG02 ddr_procmon: WARNING: MSG-PMON-00011: Restarting /ddr/bin/dd_vrr_vdisk.
Jan 21 10:14:48 WBKDVEG02 ddr_procmon: ALERT: MSG-PMON-00012: Cannot restart /ddr/bin/dd_vrr_vdisk. Setting state to FAILED.

I cannot add storage and I'm now stuck with this. Can someone give me some tips ?

Please run system vresource show requirements to see required config. It seems you have not assigned enough memory to support DDFS.

Also please note:

"You can add the first or additional virtual data disks while the virtual machine is running, provided that you do not also need to add more virtual memory to support the additional disks. DDVE supports virtual disk hot-plugging, but does not support CPU, memory, HBA card, or NIC card hot-plugging."

Thanks for the answer.

Here is the result I got from the command :

sysadmin@WBKDVEG02# system vresource show requirements
Active Tier Cloud Tier Instance
Capacity (TB) Capacity (TB) Type
------------- ------------- ----------------
16 n/a Standard_F8s
32 n/a Standard_DS4_v2
96 n/a Standard_D16s_v3
256 n/a Standard_D32s_v3
------------- ------------- ----------------
** The maximum allowed system capacity for active tier on block storage is 16 TB

It seems to take references on Azure instances from this documentation .

But I've followed the admin guide to add virtual hardware to my DDVE instance in hyper-V, and it says to put the following config :

  • 2 CPU core
  • 8 Gb of RAM

Did I miss something ? For info here is the output of the current resource allocated :

sysadmin@WBKDVEG02# system vresource show current
CPU sockets: 1
Cores per socket: 2
Memory: 8 GiB
Network Performance:
Instance type:
**** This configuration is not supported. Check the resource requirements for supported configurations.

I'm not running it into Azure. What's wrong ?

@Emced okay so as you are deploying it on Hyper-V it should not give recommendation for Azure

Did you added system disks (One 250 GB root disk and 10 GB NVRAM disk) apart from data disk, NIC, CPU and Memory?

I did use the package for Hyper-v.

You have to specify the amount of licensed storage, and it creates the VM for you with the right amount of RAM/CPU.

It also adds the NVRAM disk and everything correctly. I have checked with the admin deployment guide, and it's correct.

I just added the Data disk. But even without it. The system make error about unsupported configuration.

That's the mistery. Why did DDVE is talking about Azure, since I've used the Hyper-V package and followed the guidelines ?

If you did everything correct then only option is left to check with DELL EMC support so that they can check and guide you over remote session.
