VTL Tape to Default to Vault Status
How do I make a VTL backup tape end up in the vault after backup completes. Right now our operator has to manually select export from library every morning..is there a way to have it move to vault status when complete ??
Thank you

Depending on backup application you're using, you should treat the VTL in the same way as a physical tape library (PTL).
Think of the vault as an area that it simply 'outside the jukebox'.
If your backup application tells the tape to withdraw/export from library to the CAP/IOD - it will do the same thing as "export from library" from within the DD UI.
You must remember that the VTL - just like a PTL - has no idea of backup retention, it just does what it's instructed to do from the backup application. You would rarely go to the PTL and instruct it which tapes you want removed, this would all happen from the backup application.
In short; tell the tape to export via your backup application after the backup completes, not from the DD.
Example for Networker; you would 'withdraw' a cartridge to the CAP - this would move the virtual tape to the vault on DD VTL.

This might be pertinent to IBMi too/maybe;
Enabling auto-eject causes any tape put into a CAP (cartridge access port) to automatically move to the virtual vault, unless:
Note that customers of IBM i must enter a valid I/OS license in either of these formats:
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX or XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. This I/OS license must be installed before creating the library and drives to be used on the IBM i system.
