Upgrade DDOS from 5.4.4.2-453843 to 5.5.0.9-471508 fails cause Extended retention
Hi
I need to upgrade my Data Domain systems (DD860 2x) with Extended Retension enabled from version 5.4.4.2-453843 to version 5.5.0.9-471508.
I need to have my EBR in Networker to be upgraded to the latest version.
I may need to wait for support in 5.5.1? or a later version for Extended retension? But I need to have my EBR running together with Networker 8.2.0 just upgraded.
We are upgrading cause of EBR not able to restore backups. EMC made the upgrade criteria.
Upgrade Networker from 8.1 sp1, to 8.2.
Upgrade Data Domain from 5.4.4.2-453843 to 5.5.0.9-471508
Upgrade EBR.
Is there any solution for upgrading DDOS to a 5.5 version supporting Extended Retension?

5.5.1.4 and 5.5.2.0 are DA - you should contact support to obtain those and get extra assurance about compatibility when dealing with NW+Avamar (EBR) jumbo pack as there are strict rules about which versions work together.

I found the answer in the releasenotes for EMC® DDOS Release number 5.5.0.4

DD Extended Retention Software File Support:
Data Domain systems with the DD Extended Retention software option enabled are supported in fresh DD OS 5.5.0.x installations.
However, Data Domain systems with the DD Extended Retention software option enabled running earlier DD OS version such as DD OS 5.4 cannot be upgraded to DD OS 5.5.0.x.
Support for upgrading DDOS versions with the DD Extended Retention software option enabled is planned for a later DD OS 5.5.x version.

When does the support for upgrading DDOS with Extended Retension software option enabled come?
DD OS 5.5.1.0 When does EMC release this version? We are stucked with old EBR software with no restore...

Thanks for the answer! I will contact EMC Support for access to the DA version we need.
We are trying to upgrade due to a EMC Support case. Upgrade Networker from 8.1 to 8.2 and after that Data Domain upgrade to 5.5. and last uptdate EBR to a new version. My responsibility is our Data Domain systems.

If you have existing ticket, use it for them to provide you software and do further checks. It is same company at the end that provides support so they just need to open another internal ticket, but to you it should be transparent.

Hi
I have access to DDOS 5.5.1.4 now, and I have a tech to verify if i can use it together with Networker EBR version 1.1.1.46.
Hopefully EMC will give me a go for a upgrade with this release.
I have also requested access to DDOS 5.5.2.0, but this has not been given from EMC yet. I think Engineering has to say yes or no first.
