Unable to Enforce Immutable Backup on Dell EMC DD6400 version 7.10.1.20-1090468
I'm facing an issue with the Retention Lock (immutable backup) feature on my Dell EMC DD6400 system running version 7.10.1.20-1090468.
I've followed the steps to enable Retention Lock in Compliance mode on the specific MTree where my backup data is stored. However, I'm still able to delete the backup files within the configured retention period.
The steps I've taken:
- Status: Enabled
- Mode: Compliance
- Use: Manual
- Retention Period: Minimum 720 minutes (12 hours), Maximum 31 days
Yet, when I try to delete the backup files, the system is allowing me to do so, contrary to the expected behavior of the Compliance mode Retention Lock.
I'm concerned that the immutable backup functionality is not working as expected on my Dell EMC DD6400 system. Can you please help me troubleshoot this issue and provide guidance on how to properly enforce the Retention Lock/immutable backup protections?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any additional information from my end.
Thank you in advance for your help!

with which backup product and how do you backup data and in which way is the immutability period set as the settings on DD end only state between which minimum and max values the lock period is allowed to be?

What backup application are you using? The retention period has to come from there. You've set the retention lock to manual, so the application writing the backups has to specify the immutability.
