Recover data from DD to another host
Good day all,
we are using a dd6400 as backup for our infrastructure using networker as backup software.
most of our production is on a powerstore 500T.
if for some reason something happens to the powerstore is there a way to restore the files stored in DD to another host? a windows file server for example.

what does it even mean that most of your production is on a powerstore 500T? As it not only offers file but also block based storage? So how is it used and how is it backed up?
Are we dealing with making NAS backups? Using a NDMP based backup?

we are doing NDMP backup of the NAS server on Powerstore to DD.
and i would like to know if there is a way to restore the the files stored to DD to a different host. A windows file server for example.

That's the problem (or rather, the biggest disadvantage) with NDMP backups - in your case, you would need another PowerStore (or maybe, possibly, something VERY similar to it) to restore to.
But for big filers, it's hard to beat NDMP.
One possible solution/workaround: have 2 geographically-separate ones (that replicate)
