Issues configuring DDBoost plugin for SQL on AWS EC2 Instances

Good evening!

I've come across a somewhat strange situation that I was curious if anyone else had encountered. We've recently using AWS EC2 Instances to house some of our SQL servers and we've been having issues with the Dell EMC DDBMA Plugin Agent that we use for backing up to our data domain.

The app itself installs just fine but when we try to create the lockbox and add the DD server info to it, the application crashes and nothing gets saved.

This only happens in EC2 and has never been an issue on an19.4.0.0y of our VM servers in our data centers.

The log errors themselves are pretty vague, and differ if I create the lockbox in the UI vs. using the msagentadmin cmd line commands.

Here's an example of one:

Faulting application name: DDSSMSAddinApp.exe, version: 19.4.0.0, time stamp: 0x5e71ac55
Faulting module name: libDDBoost.dll, version: 7.1.0.11, time stamp: 0x5e56137e
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00000000000d4a23
Faulting process id: 0x27fc
Faulting application start time: 0x01d9506fe4fb81db
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\DPSAPPS\MSAPPAGENT\bin\DDSSMSAddinApp.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\DPSAPPS\MSAPPAGENT\bin\libDDBoost.dll
Report Id: 6c7d1709-70f4-4084-a1f7-b00b26f95cf7

The crash dumps don't tell me a whole lot either. They do seem to point to that libDDBoost.dll dll though.

We're using Dell EMC Microsoft App Agent version 19.4.0.

Has anyone encountered anything similar using EC2, by chance?  It's kind of a specific situation but I figured it was worth an ask. Thanks anyone who reads this!

As DDBMA is what Dell nowadays calls "Microsoft App Agent", I see that Version 19.4 standard supports ends on March 31st 2023 (released in March 2020), so within just a few weeks? Would that even be a version you'd wanna be running any longer, where 19.12 is the latest version?

"Version 19.4:

Standard support:

31 MAR 2020   - 31 MAR 2023"

So have you even tried with a more recent version?

Is the DD you try to backup towards also in AWS? What version ddos is that one running and is that version supporting the ddboost lib version of the older MS app agent? Also when compared to environments where things are working? Or all the same version everywhere, for the MS app agent, DDOS version and OS being used?
