DataDomain backup over Fibre Channel??

Hi you all,

Is there any "Guide" or Manual or something in order to achieve to backup data over FC?

We have FC zonning created between DD, Networker Server and Client; DataDomain Fibre enabled and Acces Groups created as well; Networker Server is an MCSCluster, and so is the Client.

We have created a Fibre Device, and are able to "label" devices, but when a backup starts, we see that the client traffic goes throught Ethernet..

Thanks in advance

Have you use the DFC- under the fiber channel name? I guess you get this option on the 3rd screen in the configuration wizard... Make sure when you start the configuration you use the DD hostname & not the DFC-DDhostname.

Also make sure you have created access groups in DD which include the client initiator & DD endpoints even though the device is created on Networker server. You need this for the client direct over FC to work.

I have used only "hostname", because it automatically adds "DFC-" later. If I put "DFC-Hostname" it gives me an error creating device like "can not connect to DFC-DFC-hostname".

I also have created access groups in DD with DD-endpoints and Client-Initiators...

The thing is that everything goes ok, but when I launch a backup, it starts, but it goes through LAN... even if it is using FC-device....

Finally we get it.

We create an "Access Group" in DataDomain with all clients initiators and DD endpoint (all together). We changed DDBoost Name and disable-enable Fibre Channell again.

Create Fibre Device, Create Pool, configure client and...voila!
