Data Domain getting filled up and it is taking more than a day to clean up..
Hi,
In our environment we are using the data domain DD990 it is having capacity of 320TB. We can see it is getting filled everyday. So we have to disable NDMP policy and the VBA backup policy. And it is taking more than 28-30 hrs to clean up.Please let us know we need to do.

Add more disks
Seriously, identify what is filling up and if any of that data is not good de-dupe candidate - perhaps you can move that somewhere else. In what way you are using DD? With what applications?

You didn't mention the backup software that you're using, but if you're using networker and you have networker encryption turned on turn it off and turn on data domain encryption. When we first put out dd in we had networker encryption turned on and it ate all our space in a very short amount of time.

You (both) didn't say which DDOS you run. From version to version (at least on major code level) enhancements are added so it might be you run older code - just one place to check. Second, you can check how long cleanup run took based on phases and have ticket with EMC to inspect why would this run so much. 95TB is not much and I would expect to run it below 1 day for sure (especially on DD7200).

ganesh1268,
I responded to you as well yesterday. We're not receiving AutoSupports from this system anymore. As I stated in my email, if it's still under support, please open an SR and send me the number. Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Patrick Betts
