Yet another Dell nightmare - what happened to this company?
4.24.25 - I configured an Optiplex and ordered it along with a monitor. I talked to Sales over the phone to make sure I was getting a wired mouse & keyboard as Dell's order webpage does not specify. He told me they were wired.
4.26.25 - monitor delivered, no issues or at least I don't think there are as I have not turned it on because I STILL have no computer.
5.1.25 - Due date for computer. I check Dell's website and still says in process.
5.2.25 - Email from Dell that my order has been "rejected". I call Dell and learn there is a part they can't get so the order had to be cancelled. I call Dell again and order the computer again. I spoke with Sales who assures me the keyboard and mouse are wired and order looks good. Lead time is now 3+ weeks. Estimated arrival 5.27.25.
Note** I had again ordered an Optiplex because they were still listed on the website as available for sale.
5.15.25 - Dell cancels my order again because Optiplex are no longer available (see above) even though they were clearly available for sale on 5.2.25.
Same day, I reorder the computer while talking to Sales online to make sure I get what I want.
5/27/25 - Computer arrives but I did not unpack until 5/28/25
5/28/25 - I notice the mouse & keyboard are wireless which is not what was confirmed verbally with Sales. I then notice that there is no DVD drive which I ordered.
I immediately call Dell and am given 2 choices - either a service tech comes to "repair" my brand new computer or I return and Dell immediatley begins building my computer again. I choose to return it and get what I wanted as this computer is almost $3,000 and I want what I ordered.
6/5/25 - I still had NOT received a return label but have received multiple emails from several people. I finally receive the label to return the computer that afternoon.
6.6.25 - I drop computer at FedEx
6.9.25 - Computer received at hub. (Not sure what hub but I dropped it off the day after I received the label
6.10.25 = Dell received returned computer. Order status says "Refund is in process".
7.10.25 - NO REFUND YET. Refunds are supposed to be received within 10-15 business days.
I paid with Paypal. I have had several email and phone call exchanges with Dell but no refund. I had a phone call with a Saleperson who seemed to be following the case regularly. He thought it was because I had 2 email addresses associated with my account and neither were the email address I ordered the computer with from Dell. I have since checked my Paypal account and I actually have 3 email accounts associated with my Paypal account; one of them being the same email that I ordered the computer with. At that point I realize there should be NO issue, or have ever been an issue, with my getting MY money back.
At this point do I need to get my lawyer involved? I have been telling all the people at Dell that I cannot order a new computer until I get that money back and being that it has been a MONTH since the computer was returned, it appears Dell is stalling. This is beyond ridiculous!
