wasted my money on Dell extended service plan
Hi - First post. I'm sure this is the wrong place to post this, but after more than 30 minutes of trying to find a way to voice my frustration with Dell's Service, I decided to try this.
I purchased an expensive Alienware laptop for my son for college. We purchased an extended service plan. I believe it may have guaranteed in-home repairs within 2 days. The laptop stopped working properly. The laptop is still within the extended service plan, but it expires soon.
My son initiated the service process and had a few brief email communications with someone from Dell about the issue after filling out a service request and running a bunch of diagnostics for Dell.
After that, he was ghosted by Dell. He has attempted to initiate follow up conversations via email with no response from Dell. It has been several weeks since he has heard back from Dell.
What is especially irritating is that the problems are hardware failures that are going to require sending the laptop in for repair. Dell clearly doesn't want to do this. Even worse, they don't appear to have any interest in providing the onsite, in-home, repair service that I paid hundreds of dollars for.
I did a bit of looking online and see that I'm not the only fool who paid an exorbitant amount of money to protect my son's broken laptop without getting any benefit from it.
If anyone from Dell reads this, please pass on that you've lost two recent sales as a result of this treatment. Since Dell won't fix the laptop I had to buy him a replacement. I had planned to buy him a new Alienware laptop for graduation. Instead, we purchased an Asus. Besides that, the new $5,000 Alienware PC that was in my cart has been removed and replaced with something else. I don't think that I'll be buying a Dell product in the future, nor will I recommend them.
