Warranty and support Reg

I recently bought a brand-new Dell laptop in Lagos, Nigeria on April 12th 2025 and set it up on Sunday 13th April. When I contacted Dell to register the system for warranty and support, they asked for the previous owner's details in the United States. This is puzzling because I personally unboxed the laptop myself. Who could have used it before me?
