Subject: Warranty Support Refused for Dell Computer
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a recent support experience with Dell. I purchased a Dell desktop computer <Private data removed from public view. DELL-Admin> less than a year ago from Costco, and it is currently under warranty.
After a recent Dell/Windows update, my Brother printer began experiencing a printing issue only when used with this Dell computer. Specifically:
A black bar appears on all pages after the first in any multi-page document.
My Dell monitor temporarily goes black when I send a print job—this is a new behavior that began immediately following the update.
This issue does not occur on any of the other three computers in my home, all of which use the same Brother printer without any problems. Furthermore, my Dell computer can print without issue to a different printer. These facts clearly isolate the problem to the Dell system and its recent update.
When I contacted Dell Technical Support, I was told that because my monitor and printer are not Dell products, support would not assist me—even though the Dell computer itself is still under warranty. I was then offered the option to pay $99 to speak with a specialist. This feels inappropriate and unjustified. The problem originated from the Dell computer after an update, and it should be covered under my existing warranty.
I respectfully request that this issue be properly escalated and addressed under warranty. I would appreciate a timely response and a resolution that does not require additional payment for what appears to be a Dell-caused issue.
Sincerely,
Heidi Gauthreaux

This is support for a non-Dell peripheral -- unless you purchased the printer from Dell, it will be paid service.
If you haven't tried removing all the Brother print drivers and then reinstalling the latest one, that would be the no-cost thing to do next.
