Sales gave me incorrect product Information
I purchased a Precision 3951 Workstation Laptop and then thought that I required a 2nd SSD for data, a few weeks later.
After online chatting with Sales Support to verify the correct SSD for my laptop, I ordered the short square SSD specified, as I was informed that it was the only one that fitted as a 2nd drive in my 3591.
The SSD duly arrived, and I opened up the laptop to fit the new SSD. To my horror, I found that the SSD 2 slot is a long slot and I could have had an upgraded SDD.
It's taken over 4 hours to commence the item return process and sort the situation.
I have lost my Reward Points and was informed by Customer Care that they will not be refunded.
The discount code voucher (10% discount) I used towards the purchase has now expired.
Absolutely appalling customer service, with zero goodwill for an error on your part. I've been a loyal DELL customer for over 30 years!
Been in IT all that time, and you fix problems and make good if you mess-up, this was basic DELL laptop anatomy, very poor knowledge.

You can mount a 2230 drive in the 2280 slot with a $5 adapter.

And the system documentation clearly shows the slot configuration and would have been a better source of definitive information than the word of a sales agent.

Thanks for your prompt reply. So why was it so difficult for a DELL Sales Agent, after putting me on hold to check with Technical Support, to get it right? If they are doing their job and verifying with Tech Support, you wouldn't need to buy an adapter when the correct product item exists and chat to confirm. Poor job all round, disappointing from such an established company.
It's not as though they have tried to make recompense either, 2 strikes...
