Request for proof of purchase documentation for Order
Hi Dell Customer Care Team,
I am seeking support regarding my Dell laptop order.
The laptop was purchased using my own Dell account, my own email address, and paid for using my personal bank account. However, at the time of purchase/delivery, the recipient name was entered as my cousin-in-law’s name because he was helping me receive the parcel on my behalf.
I am now preparing documentation for an insurance claim and need to provide proof that I am the actual purchaser and owner of this laptop.
I can provide supporting evidence if required, including my Dell account details, order confirmation emails, payment records, bank statement, and any other information needed for verification.
Could Dell please assist by providing one of the following documents if possible:
- A copy of the invoice showing my name and billing address; or
- An updated invoice with my name as the purchaser/billing contact, if this is allowed; or
- A proof of purchase / ownership confirmation letter stating that this order was made through my Dell account and paid by me; or
- Any official document Dell can provide to help confirm that I am the purchaser and owner of the laptop.
Thank you very much for your help. I would appreciate your guidance on what document Dell can provide for insurance purposes.

Hey @gzy980714,
Thanks for reaching out to our Community Forum.
To resolve this inquiry, you will need to submit an ownership transfer from your brother-in-law to yourself using the attached form. Once this is completed, you should be able to obtain the requested information.
You can begin the transfer process using the following link:

Hi Alex,
I just received an email and it seems like the ownership transfer request has been approved.
Could you please let me know how to find the documents that I requested?
Thanks for your support.

@gzy980714 You should actually already be able to retrieve an invoice on the dell.com page.

Hi Daniel,
There’s nothing showing in there.
Is that might because the order made was 4 years ago? Thanks.

@gzy980714 I'll recreate your post so that customer care can engage on it. They will request the needed info to provide you with the needed invoice. Your order information should be easily accessible once you provide them with a service tag.
