(redirected) Getting files off my ipod onto my Windows 7 laptop?

I am trying to get these photos off this ipod and onto my laptop. I have a Windows 7 laptop and iPod 4th generation. The app cant export them to iPod photos for some reason and using a program to transfer them via direct folder browsing gives me these like encrypted files. They say "jpg file". I cannot open them in any photo viewer. Can someone tell me how I can un-encrypt them, or can I get a program to use to export properly? Or do I have to manually tap to export each picture in which i have about 500 more. Please help.
