NZ Consumer Gaurantee
In New zealand, consumers are protected by law that the item they purchase should be fit for purpose - which includes providing an acceptable life time. For Laptops - 4 to 5 years. I can't find any way to contact Dell NZ - has anyone had any luck ?
Background - always loved Dell, had many and bought them for Kids all through school - but last one (18 months old now) developed faults after 6 months and eventually they changed the motherboard. Same faults now exist so She is using a 5 year old one that Her brother doesn't use anymore.

I am sorry you felt "aggravated"
You provided no information - the links you provided are clearly on the dell website.
You mentioned law and soliciters after I spoke about them.
You provided no meaningful information, tried to dissuade me from my lawful actions and appear to be purely trying to generate likes etc on this site to bolster your ratings.
I am pleased the real Dell people were more helpful.

While I can't help you with the laptop law in New Zealand, I can guide you to laptop products on Dell New Zealand site. Similar as USA site, the XPS 13 laptop purchase price in New Zealand included one year Premium Support with Hardware and Software1-2 Biz Day Onsite after remote diagnosis.
I also see certain laptops offering options for customers to select three years comprehensive Pro Support Plus. Therefore, I think Dell seller terms does offer a lifetime product protection (4-5 years) if customers willing to pay for it. Or, customers can opt out and pay at lower cost for one year coverage.

@Chino de Oro
Thanks for that, you will be pleased to know its actually consumer protection law - not laptop law :-) Is there any way to contact a New Zealand rep to discuss this?

You did not look at the link I provided in my post?
After clicking on the link to visit Dell New Zealand website, select Contact Us on the top right of the screen.
As mentioned, I do not know about the laptop law in New Zealand. But, common sense telling me that consumer protection would not apply to electronic products that have different quality build and prices. Otherwise, customers would be required by law to pay the cost for additional years of coverage.
You may be better off contacting a solicitor or barrister for your inquiry instead of asking Dell employees. I am just a community member trying to assist you by pointing you to the information you are seeking.

I'm sorry you are offended - I had hoped a Dell Employee would reply - and be able to direct me to a NZ rep. That was the information I was requesting - not just pointing me back to there website - Obviously I clicked on the link - and many others. Dell online simply states warranty is expired, the NZ phone help simply states the answers are online. I eventually got through by saying "express ticket" to the automated phone (not actually an option they advertised) and could enter the code. As expected, they were well aware of the NZ consumer protection and will fix the laptop.
I do apologise again for the offence caused to you, it has been very difficult to get hold of Dell NZ ..... They were fined $200,000 a couple of years ago for not adhering to the New Zealand consumer protection :-)
Have a great week !!

Thankyou !!! After many years you have answered why products are more expensive in NZ than our neighbour Aust !! It must be built in to comply with the NZ Consumer Law .... so for Kiwis - best to buy online at Dell NZ as cheaper overseas options won't be protected.
For any Kiwis looking, it is all laid out in the NZ Consumer act, Dell are awesome (once you can get hold of them) A Laptop should last 4-5 years.

I was not offended. I just felt aggravated because after I spent time to do research and provided you the link to Dell New Zealand and with a link to contact us (contact Dell) as your main query of this thread "I can't find any way to contact Dell NZ - has anyone had any luck ?", your response made me reread my post and responded again with clarification.
Despite my very first statement regarding not know New Zealand laptop law, I do know that it is illegal in New Zealand and United State of America to offer legal advise without law license. It's also a violation of Dell community code of conduct to discuss or solicitation about legal action or lawsuit. Hence the reason for your previous post being edited.
Now again, instead of accepting my post as accepted answer because it included the link to contact Dell NZ, you just took some warranty info I provided to fit your purpose and took my research as your solution. Therefore, I do not care if you accept my post as answer or not, your Community Accepted Solution being removed because your post did not offer any information about how to contact Dell NZ.
