Lost dell reward points after cancelling an order

I placed an order using my dell reward points but then realized that I put in some wrong details and cancelled the order immediately. I called the number in order details and the customer care representative said that I lost my dell reward points and might not be able to get a refund on them.

I feel sad as it took a long time to get them and I need to place the order again but I cannot at the full price, plus the sale ends in a week on the item I wanna get. Is there any way I can get a refund on my dell rewards points quickly?
