Is DellRefurbished.com part of the Dell corporation?
At the recommendation of the IT guy at work, I went to DellRefurbished.com to purchase a laptop. I found a unit that fit my needs and paid for my selection. After several days of seeing my order status in a "Processing" status I called the support line to see what the hold up was. (After all, the money had already cleared my bank account) The support person really was no help. They pretty much just repeated what I could already see on the website that my order was "in processing", but could not give me any details about my order. On the 2nd week of "Processing" status I called again and asked for a Supervisor. I was first told there was no supervisor, the it was that the supervisors were all in a meeting and unavailable. I logged a vigorous complaint and the agent offered me a $40 refund when my unit shipped. I begrudgingly accepted, and the next day receive an email that my order was cancelled. I did, however get a 50% off code to use if I wanted to reorder. I thought that was pretty cool, so I found a better unit that with the 50% code was in my price range, and when the refund was received in my account the next day I placed the order.
2 days after I placed the order, I was excited to see that I had received an email informing me that my order had shipped. I checked the tracking number with FedEx and it was showing that the shipping label had been created, but FedEx had not been given the package yet. I kept checking the tracking website for updates and it stayed in that status for a week and 2 days. I finally called the support center again, and again was just being told the same information I could see for myself on the website that the order "shows that is shipped". I sent a message through the support portal asking why it was that a shipping label was created, but the unit was sitting in their facility for over a week and not given to FedEx for delivery. 3 days later I received the FedEx notification that my shipment was on it's way. Then I received a return message from DellRefurbished that "according 6to the tracking number the estimate deliver day will be Monday 5/12/25". (Which I already knew, because I signed up for shipping updates from FedEx and they informed me first.)
On 5/12/25 I received my order and was so excited. I already had an appointment set with Geek Squad to have software installed on the computer that day. About 2 hours after my computer was delivered, I was sitting at Best Buy with the Geek Squad tech. Low and behold, when we turned the computer on there was no image on the screen, nor was it putting an image out on through the HDMI output. *Sigh*.....
Geek Squad sent it out for warranty repair. I picked up the computer today....They couldn't fix it and said that I need to send it back to Dell.....
I call DellRefurbished customer support, and again there isn't a supervisor available because there is a problem because the warehouse moved, then it was that all the supervisors are in a meeting. Then after I explained the problem and she offered to send me a return label and give me an "upgrade" on another selection, she informed me that she IS a supervisor...... Whatever......
At this point I am interested in what kind of "upgrade" I am going to get. If it's a functional laptop I would be happy, but honestly, I have about a month of bad experience and I am really weighing out if I want to continue to deal with this.
Everything that I see tells me that DellRefurbished is a division of the Dell corporation and refurbishes corporate lease units for resale (all for recycling). I really feel that the Parent company should be looking into what the kids are doing in their name.
My IT guy said he has never had any of these problems, and is shocked. He keeps apologizing to me, but it's not his fault.
IS ANYBODY WITH THE ACTUAL DELL CORPORATION INVOLVED WITH THIS ORGANIZATION? Somebody needs to step in and stop this madness....
