Inspiron 15 3520, hinge issue made worse by tech support
<Moved out of Optiplex Desktops board and into Customer Care board. Inspiron 15 3520 warranty expired January 9, 2025. DELL-Admin>
My computer was sent back to me with the hinge fully broken. I sent it in to get the hinge looked at but I was very careful when I noticed the hinge wasn't opening easily. My wife has the same computer and both her hinges broke so I knew the problem when mine wouldn't open. I declined the service and they sent it back. Upon return the damage is far worse than it was. The hinge has completely broken away. I could tell it was damaged before I opened it. If you are real careful you don't break the hinge away from the area that it is connected to. The frame around the screen is also parted from the screen. It was not like that when I sent it in. I gave them specific information about the hinge AND the hinge is notorious for failing. Both our computers were just over a year old. Both had the hinge failure. I've called and emailed through chat and was not able to reach anyone. I've read up on many hinge problem reports and they too are stuck with a non functioning computer. I would like to ask Dell through this message to please contact me. I will follow up when they do. If there is no further comment you all will know they did not contact me. I've had many Dells over the years and I will assume they can make this right.

If you declined repair (likely after being provided a cost estimate), it's over. You can call and re-initiate an estimate or take the system to the repair shop of your choice.
