Educational buyer, no further price match after using educational discount email
I recently bought a 34" Alienware monitor directly from Dell. At the time, it was listed at full price, but I used my educational email to receive a small discount at checkout. Two weeks later, I noticed the same monitor had dropped by 25% on Dell’s own website. Naturally, I thought their Price Match Guarantee would cover the difference, so I reached out to support. I assumed it would be a simple refund of the difference. Unfortunately, I was instantly denied because I didn’t pay full price. Seriously? I escalated the issue and spoke with a team leader. They pointed me back to the same price match policy, reiterating that using any discount makes you ineligible for a price adjustmenteven if the current sale price is lower than what you paid. So despite the Dell website (and multiple local retailers) listing it for significantly less than what I paid just two weeks ago, Dell refuses to honor the price match. Had I known that using an education discount would exclude me from basic protections like a price match, I would’ve simply bought it locally for less without the headache. This feels extremely misleading and disappointing from a brand like Dell. Not okay.

Looks like they still haven't cleaned up their act. I purchased a monitor 2 weeks ago and Dell had a 25% price drop. Went to ask for the after purchase price guarantee (all my local retailers also had the price drop) and was rejected, saying that because I purchased it with an educational email, I was instantly illegible as my initial price was slightly cheaper then the advertised price at the time (even though I paid MORE then the current sale). If I had known that at the time of purchase, I would have just purchased locally. This policy is nothing more then a marketing piece unfortunately (unlike other local retailers who actually DO have a proper price drop refund policy).
