BIOS Admin Password removal

I purchased a used Latitude 7440 for my company from an Australian Reseller. Unfortunately, the previous Owner left the BIOS locked with Admin password. To unlock the BIOS I was advised by Dell Pro Support that I need to transfer the ownership to my Company, as the laptop is currently under Warranty. I transferred the ownership using this page and received an email confirming Success for my service tag. However, when I raised a service request with Dell to unlock the BIOS Admin password on this laptop, my request was refused citing some undisclosed Dell's Privacy Policy rule for the purpose of protecting the previous owner's private information.

Simpler would be to insist on a return to your seller or that they remove the passwords.

@ejn63 the Seller  is an Auction house, the previous owner removed the SSDs and sold the laptops, but couldn't unlock the BIOS admin  pwd as the Admin has left the company.

If you knew that before purchase, you're likely out of options other than buying a replacement system board.  If that wasn't disclosed before the purchase took place, return the system to the seller for a refund on that grounds.

@ejn63 - Are you working for Dell? <ejn63 is a trusted Rockstar volunteer but not an employee of Dell. DELL-Admin>

If it is, it's between you and your seller, since you did not purchase the system(s) in question from Dell.
