What would cause discovery on Cisco FM to time out

I have a Cisco 9124 that i cant discover using Fabric Manager.  After entering username/password, it times out.  I can ping and telnet into the switch just fine.

any suggestions?

Yes, there many more ports with FM than DM.   The required ports are listed in FM Guide and in the EMC Knowledgebase.

Thank you.

Try to telnet to the ip address on port 161 ..SNMP runs on that port. You will get a blank screen but as long as it does not time out you have connectivity.

Ok  i will try that.  i currently dont have physical access to the switch.  So Device manager and Fabric Manager use different ports?

Hello,

The most common problem that causes this is a firewall or router with IP filtering turned on blocking specific ports that FM uses.   The easiest way to confirm this is to directly connect a laptop to the switch without going through the network (cross over cable, etc.), make sure no firewall software running on the laptop, and see if FM will connect.   If it does something on the network is causing it, usually a firewall.

Thank you.

Something is blocking snmp port. I can telnet to port 161 on my 9134 with no issues.
