Hello glenn237,

You can look at the support matrix for your switches and see the compatible versions of your that are supported. Which model switches do you have?

@DELL-Sam L

I have one for model Connectrix DS-6520B (FOS 8.02d), there is an isl connection with a san switch from a chassis having the model HP B-series 8/24c SAN Switch BladeSystem c-Class (FOS 7.4 .1)
I would like to update the Connectrix DS-6520B and I don't know if this will be compatible with the san switch on the chassis.

and I have another concern about the license, I would like to know if the transition from FOS 8 to FOS 9 requires a change of license?

Because I have several san switches to update apart from these

Hello glenn237,

It is best that if you are going to upgrade the FOS on your Connectrix switch that you will want to upgrade the FOS on your san switch as well. If you already have an ISL license, then it will transfer with your FOS upgrade.

Hello glenn237,

You should be able to review the release notes for FOS 9 as it list all the changes with the changes to the FOS.

@DELL-Sam L

can you give me an example please, it's really ambiguous for me when I'm in the version notes.
as I said, I have 2 san switches which are connected by isl. I wanted to update one of the switches. and I wanted to know how we know that the destination version will be compatible with the other switch. I don't want to break up the ISL.

if I can have an example with the release notes of FOS9 or 8. please

Hello glenn237,

I don’t have an example for your exact situation for upgrading your switch. Is your Connectrix still have an active warranty on it, or has it expired?

Hi,

If the entitlement has expired, you or we will not be able to download new FOS code. So that is not possible. You need to get a support contract first before being able to upgrade your Gen5 switch.

And regards ISL being broken during FOS upgrade that never was an issue with Brocade since FC traffic is the highest priority in any switch.

The firmware upgrade is regarded as NDU (Non Disruptive Upgrade).

Regards the compatibility between FOS code; FOS 8.0.2d has been End Of Support since Sep. 2020.

Example Release notes 9.2.2 attached. See chapter "Fabric OS Compatibility". FOS 8.0.x not compatible.

thanks,

Ed
