Help on running SWAT for Brocade

Hi,

I need to run swat for a couple of switches.

I have a zip file for brocade which has multiple files within it.

I understand that to run swat I need to pick up the supportshow file But I am unable to find it .

Can someone please help me understand which file needs to be provided as an input to swat and whats theextension of it...

Thanks

Cheers!!

Hello

You should run supportshow command in CLI and redirect or copy&past output to any txt file.

This txt file can be parsed by SWAT.

Alex,

thats true....thats how I usually do it without any issues...however this time I got an .zip fron the customer.....it has many zips within it.

once I unzip them all I can see multple files like..

switchname-xx.old-tracedump.dmp

switchname-xxRAS.ss

switchname-xxFABRIC.ss

switchname-xx.SSHOW_FABRIC

switchname-xx.SSHOW_FICON

switchname-xx.SSHOW_PORT

and many more.... I can figure out which of these shld go to the swat.....

or is there something wrong with this zip that is provided to me?

supportsave output is collection of *.gz archives which can't directly be used in SWAT.

Here is exapmple of my supportsave:

Delora-S0cp-201106101725.RAS_POST.txt.gz
Delora-S0cp-201106101725.SSHOW_DCEHSL.txt.gz
Delora-S0cp-201106101725.VFABRIC.txt.ss.gz

If you extract files from *.SSHOW*.gz archives and merge it into single file you will get supportshow output.

Just ask customer to run supportshow on switches and you'll save a lot of time.

Hi,

SWAT is able to except your supportsave. Just make sure you have it in zip format with the files in there. and you should be good to go.

Ed

Hi Dario,

The post is 4 years old. The SWAT website is EMC internal, and probably not being maintained anymore.

E-lab advisor website is currently used and is able to handle supportsaves uploads. You cannot download anything from there.
https://elabadvisor.emc.com/app/upload/form

If you untar the supportsave, zip the files up with winzip and upload it, you have a choice on how you want a report from E-lab advisor.

Then there is the Brocade SAN Health tool (or the EMC version). You will be able to download that and install locally, it will create a file which you have to send back to the originator (EMC or Brocade) and you get a excel sheet and Visio diagram back.
http://www.emc.com/partnerships/technology-alliances/brocade-promo/install-emc-san-health.zip

On the EMC forum there must be discussions on San health if you want to check them.

Hope that answers your question.

Regards,

Ed
