DCX director wants to make a ISL link to existing SAN

Dear All,

I would like to do SAN migration from existing switch to DCX.
Can I do following actions to fulfill the requirement?

1. Change different doman_id and set PID=1 on DCX
2. ISL link to existing fabric (2 Switches, one is DS-16B3 and other DS-220B)

The problem is firmware version of DS-16B3 too old to connect DCX.
But firmware version of DS-220B can.

Can I make a ISL link from DCX to DS-220B without any risk for existing production environment?

Thank you for any suggestion.

Best Regards,
Dennis Dai

I would think you would be fine as long as there is no zoning information in the DCX to begin with. We recently swapped out McData i10ks for DCXes and making sure the domain ID is identical for the switch you are swapping for is very important in some cases. If the zoning library is empty on the DCX, it should inherit the zoning data from whichever switch you have set the ISL from.
