Urgent Assistance Required: License Recovery for Compellent SC9000 (Police Surveillance Storage)
Greetings,
We are seeking urgent assistance regarding a license recovery issue for the basic functionality of a Dell Compellent SC9000 system.
Background:
The system was deployed in 2019 and is currently utilized by the Police Department to store city traffic surveillance video data. The total storage capacity is 2.9 PB. Following a power failure related to the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), the system began malfunctioning.
Technical Issues:
The SC9000 stopped responding to requests for creating or modifying volumes. While it allowed us to delete old volumes, it failed to reclaim the free space. Consequently, we performed a factory reset. During the initial setup process, the system now requires a license file, which we do not possess.
Actions Taken:
1. We contacted the Dell representative office in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Unfortunately, they were unable to assist, stating that all servers and services responsible for managing Compellent license files have been decommissioned as these systems are no longer under technical support.
2. We reached out to the original distributor. They could not locate the file and informed us that the Compellent SC9000 typically shipped with a factory-embedded base license
3. Regrettably, the lead engineer who performed the original installation in 2019 has passed away, leaving us without local records of the license.
Request:
We kindly ask for your help in providing the license file required to restore the basic functionality of the SC9000. We have all the necessary documentation to prove the legal purchase of this equipment.
The Police Department has scheduled the acquisition of a new storage system for 2027. However, we must keep the current system operational throughout 2026 to ensure public safety and data continuity.
We look forward to your prompt response.
