1. create local group to associate with the directory group. Users who log in as members of the directory group will be granted access to folders as defined in the selected local user groups.

2. grant access to directory user groups (distinguished name format) and select privilege level to grant users in this directory user group.

the same schema is for users

try to:

1. disable IPv6 on NIC of the desktop/server on which you run Enterprise (storage) Manager or web browser

2. use 32-bit JAVA

3. use DOMAIN\USER and the password.

Would you mind confirming what the format was when you were able to get a system to join for your login?  I have a ticket open with Dell on this right now, and was directly told to not use anything but the username.

IE.  domain\username  username@domain are all wrong, to only use "username"

Did either of you have success getting this to work? I was able to get SC 7.3 to join AD and create the computer object but can not, for the life of me, get it to add a directory user. I've tried everything I can think of.

Hello squebel,
Did you add AD in DSM, or the Storage Center?

Reference the Dell Storage Manager 2018 Administrators Guide
https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/storage-sc2000_administrator-guide3_en-us.pdf

Grant Access to a Directory User page 281 - This is to add a user in Storage Center

In DSM you need to add the User Group and then the User:
Add Directory Groups to a Storage Manager User Group page 719
Add a Directory User to a Storage Manager User Group page 719

It could also be that your system shows as added, but is not completely added.

I just got off the phone with CoPilot about this issue and was speaking to their AD integration SME. The problem is this:

The SCOS joined the domain without any issue. Our domain is company.LOCAL but all of our users are in company.COM. SCOS has NO ability to parse suffixes so therefor no matter how you set up the authentication or settings, you'll never be able to add those users. This works in DSM because they've fixed it, to an extent, but does not work directly in SCOS. The engineer I spoke to said this is a well-known issue and he continues to raise bugs for it but until Dell fixes it on the SCOS side, it's never going to work.
