SCv3020 Set Management IPv4 Address Failed

Hello,

I am having problems deploying a new SCv3020 SAN. The Dell Storage Manager client detects the SAN ok, and I am able to start the initialization of the SAN. The Storage Center initialization proceeds successfully until it gets to the "Set Management IPv4 Address" item. At this point, the "Set Management IPv4 Address" fails (as per the screenshot below).

The SAN and the server are connected into the same switch and there are no firewalls between them. I have not been able to find anything on the net about this issue.

Has anyone encountered this problem deploying a new SCv3020 and what was the solution? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello riddlep,

With the error that you are getting it is best to contact support to help resolve your issue.  In most cases that I have seen when you are getting this type if issue you will need to call in as support will need to CLI into the controllers to run some commands to allow the IP to be set.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Sam L,

Thanks for your response. I'll check what level of SAN support we purchased for the client before I call Support. However I don't understand why a brand-new SAN cannot be initialised using the normal method i.e. Dell Storage Manager Client without falling over on a simple thing like setting to Management IPv4 Address. Not a good advert for the SCv3020. DellEMC could at least make available online the command-line commands to configure the IP address settings for the controllers and the virtual management interface, which would save a call to Support.

Hello Peter,

When we see this type of issue, there can be an issue with the OS that was loaded on your SCv3020.  You are supposed to be able to use the wizard or manually enter it in & it be accepted.  We need to look at the code while the wizard is trying to apply the management IP so we can see why the OS is not accepting it.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I show a person saw the same issue you hit. It turned out one of the IP addresses they were trying to use was in use by another system. Please verify this is not the case. you can also reboot both controllers and go through the initialization wizard again.
