SCv3020 initialisation

HI,

I've had SCv3020 with SCv300 enclosure remotely installed and cabled.

All seems correct, I get 2 IPs from DHCP and can access iDrac on both IPs.

But I can not initialize.

On iDRAC it says I miss disks, and in Storage Manager Client it says I only have 1 controller... ( cf screenshots )

On the front I see 5 disks with lights on.

What am I missing here ?

Thanks,

Stephane

A SC needs up to 35min for first initialization.  Please dont poke around within in the iDRAC.  Hook up the usb serial cable to both controller and see whats going on.

A SC needs 7 disks as a minimum.

the SC has been up for several days before I try anything

SAN is remote, I can t access it given current situation, hence I tried to check if iDRAC was accessible.

I have 5 disks in SCv3020, and 12 in SC300 expansion, so more than required. That doesn t explain the message from Storage Manager telling me I have only one controller.

Will ask datacenter remote hands to plug usb serial cable to both controllers and check.

Thanks

Stephane

Hello Stephane,

You need to have a minimum of 7 drives in your SCv3020 for it to boot.  With you only having 5 drives in your system it will not boot correctly. Once the drives have been inserted and the system powered on with 7 drives it should boot correctly.  if you are still having issues then will need to see how the controllers are cabled and if there are any lights on the controllers.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Well, "i" have installation problems with the newer models and rescent SCOS when it comes to the quality of the discovering process. Also seen that only one controller was found.... but hey thats more as i normaly see in the gui

Depends on how much time i could spend i configure a static IPv4 on both CMs and reboot the array. After that the discovering works.

But again.... a SCOS needs 7 Disks.  So you need to fix this first and someone must take look to both CMs whats the current state.

If you call dell support.... be warned and be very gentle! If you dont buy the unit with installations services the support may regrets to help at first.

Question: Who spec'ed the array?

Joerg
