SCv2020 Update Not Available

Have two SCv2020s running 6.6.11.009.04. Running Either 2016 R3 or 2018 R1 storage manager clients say my system is up to date and no updates are available.

The oldest direct download I can find is 6.6.5. How do I get these update files?

Hello mloraditch,

To upgrade your SCOS you will need to have an active support contract on your system, and you will need to call into support.  When you call support, they will pull some support logs, and verify that they system is ok to be upgraded.  Support will then send you a link so that you can download the latest version of SCOS that is support on your system.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I hope you have a valid support contract . You can check your self my visiting dell.com/support and enter your ServiceTag and check the date of the warranty. Dell alway performing a pre check and than they enable the Update for your system... and only your system.

But even when... this can be a challenge

  • Upgrading from 6.6 to current 7.3.x or 7.4 is not possible
  • You need as first step scos-official-R07.01.12.002.05 and DSM/Datacollecter 2018R1
  • Than you can go further to 7.3 or 7.4 and DSM/DataCollector 2019R1(When using 7.4.x)
  • Or SCv2020 was unable to download the Online updates dell have enabled after performing the pre checks. The< didnt find a solution for this problem so we have to running an Offline upgrade with the SCOS Update Utility
  • Is this a vSphere ESXi cluster and using a SCv with SAS Frontend a downtime maybe required

Regards,
Joerg
