SC4020 Index numbering reset
Hi!
So i'm a bit of a newcomer to Compellent systems, and we have at our company a small system of one SC4020 controller and then two SC200 and two SC220. We'll be using the machines for testing compellent Disks. To make things easy I wanted to make a list of commands to test the disks, but now I've run into the problem that the Disk Index numbering only goes upwards, and net resetting (e.g when i Release a disk with index 50, pull it physically out of the system, and then putting another disk in, the new index will then be 51, when i'd want it to be 50) - So the question is this: Is there a single command or set of commands I have to type in so the index resets?

Hello Frederik,
No there is not a command that you can type to reset the index. If you were to reset the index you can do harm to your SC4020 & can harm your data by doing so. Even in support we don’t reset the index.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi, and thanks for the reply.
I'm not really interested in keeping data safe, since there's going to be a lot of disks put in and out of the system all the time, and data will be wiped on disks.
What do you mean by doing harm to the storage center itself?
