SC220 connect to two Dell PowerEdge servers

For ESXI 6.0, can I use one Compellent SC220 for datastores and two Dell PowerEdge servers for VM hosts, connected via DAS using Perc H810 cards on bother servers? I know both servers can recognize the Compellent and access the same datastores at the same time, but can it work properly for vMotion and HA?

No, an SC220 cannot be used for Direct Attached Storage to a server. It must be used in conjunction with a controller.

Are you saying that its not possible to connect a SCv2020 drive tray to a PowerEdge r720 even if I pull the LSI SAS 9201-16e card from the SC8000 that was originally connected to the SCv2020 drive try, and put in my r720, THEN connect the r720 to the SCv2020?

Hello BadBadBadCompany,

You can connect your SCV2020 to a Poweredge R720 server.  Here is the link to the deployment for your SCv2020. https://dell.to/33y779d

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

SC220 = JBOD
SCv2020 = Entry Level SAN Storage including Controller and the SCOS of course

So please specify what is in front.

All the SC JBODs are designed to be attached to a Storage Center and not to a general purpose PowerEdge Server(i am aware that the SC8000/9000 looks like a normal PowerEdge Server.. but thats not the "true").

MD12x0/MD14x0 are the JBODs for normal Servers.

Regards,
Joerg
