Reset only the iBMC/DRAC settings for SCv3020

Hello,

While I was doing the configuration it seems like I have done something wrong in the network, because I am no longer able to open the iDRAC. I would like to reset the iDRAC to default and not have to reset my whole controller and erase the data.

Is there a way I can do that?

Than you need to hook up the serial cable and

1. Try your self  the platform bmc set  and see if you can do VLAND it trough the commandline (i dont think so)

2. Call Dell Support and they will setup a RemoteSupport Session (Similar to webex/zoom)

3. Reconfigure the phys. switch port to the wrong VLAN to get access to the iDRAC again and revoke the VLAND id

Hello kikog,

Can you ping the ip of your iDRAC? Also, when you state that you can’t open your iDRAC is it not loading or is it not accepting your credentials? Is this a first-time deployment or are you making changes to your configuration?

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Sam, I cannot ping the iDRAC and I cannot open it. I have made the initial configuration and I was able to open it. Then I made some changes into the network configuration on the iDRAC configuration page which made me not able to open it (wrong VLAN). I cannot ping it or open it since. I tried changing the IP (from the Dell Storage Client), but that didn't work. Is it possible to access it through CLI somehow? I can open the controller management IP (not BMC)

Did you try to open an #SR and ask if Dell Support can fix the issue through the SecureConsole

Yes, there is a way to configure the BMC(iDRAC) on the controller console, but ....

1. Not sure if its only good for configure a unconfigured one because you reportet that changed trough the DSM Gui doesnt work

2. You need to enable the developer mode to made these changes but in that mode you can easily shoot your self into foot

There is a

platform bmc show

command to check the current settings and than there is "set" to configure ip, netmask, gateway in 3 single steps. The same has to be performed on the other controller as well.

Again.. .is this a new SCv3020 please call Dell Support.

Hello kikog,

I would call into support so that we can remote in to your system and see what the issue with your iDRAC is.  Since you are doing a deployment there is a few differ things that can be causing this issue.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

The SAN is not connected to the internet so it won't be possible to remote check it.
We have done the deployment and everything is running fine.
I can access the SAN management web UI as well as through the DSM.
I can also open the san controllers' IPs which lead me to the same web UI.
I have also configured the BMC (iDRAC) and I was able to open it.
However, I made the mistake and set the VLAN from empty (default) to a wrong number. That is only for IPv4. Thus, this is the only thing I need to change / reset.

Hello,

In the end I used solution #3.

I didn't really want to do it, but since I am not confident enough in #1 and #2 is not possible that looked like the only way to go.

That worked and now I can access BMC again.

Thanks for the help
